Streets that carry a high volume of traffic for intrastate, intercounty and intercity travel.  Traffic on this type of street normally has the right-of-way except in areas of high hazard, where controls are used.  The following street is classified as a "principal arterial" (reference the Marshall Township Comprehensive Plan of 1991): Route 19 (Perry Highway).
