Snow Removal Policy

Winter maintenance of Township roadways is undertaken by the municipal road crew according to the guidelines set forth in the Township’s snow removal policy. This written policy prioritizes the Township roadways under a three-tiered system, ensuring that arteries and bus routes are cleared first.

Municipal code prohibits parking on streets during snow removal. Doing so hinders the crews in removing snow and treating roadways. Your cooperation in assisting our winter maintenance efforts is appreciated.

Sec. 190-52. - Schedule XV: Parking Prohibited Certain Hours. In accordance with the provisions of Section 190-22, no person shall park a vehicle upon any Township street between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. prevailing local time, and/or during snow removal times.

With regards to sidewalks, the following snow removal policy is in effect: All residents and business owners must clear their sidewalks within 12 hours after snow, sleet, or freezing rain has fallen. In addition to this, residents and business owners who have roofs that hang over pedestrian walkways must clear their roofs of dangerous snow or ice overhang. Please do not shovel or plow snow onto public streets. It can often re-freeze and cause hazardous conditions for drivers.
