Local Services Tax

On September 10, 2007, Marshall Township instituted a Local Services Tax (LST) approved as Ordinance Number 380. This Ordinance defines the amount and collection of the Local Services Tax. This tax levies a $52 fee on any employee who is gainfully employed or headquartered (except for payroll purposes) in Marshall Township. In addition, it also applies to self-employed individuals, if the work/tasks they perform are primarily carried out for any period of time in the calendar year within Marshall Township.

Anyone earning less than $12,000 annually is exempt from the payment of this tax. Employers are required to withhold the tax, ($1 per week), per calendar year. Employers are required to make quarterly payments to Keystone Collections. Employees can request an upfront exemption, rather than pay the tax and then wait until the end of the year to receive a refund.

Keystone Collections Group is the collector for both Local Services Tax (LST) and Earned Income Tax (ETI). Employers or those self-employed are now able to make the quarterly payments electronically. If you use Keystone for earned income, you can now submit both tax payments by the same portal. The manual entry for payments is also available. The PSD code for Marshall Township is: 710703 when submitting payments. This code is to designate Marshall Township as your place of residence or employment so Keystone Collections can submit payment back to the correct municipality.
